VITREOUS ENAMEL - DECORATION
A
Modern Use Of Vitreous Enamel
Enamel Panels For Decoration
An
exciting modern use of vitreous enamel is in decoration. Two recently completed projects by artist Varvara Shavrova are at the new Medical School, Keele University and the Brewery Shopping Centre, Romford, Essex. Varvara has recently moved to Beijing in China, having worked in London since 1989. ![]() |
Varvara Shavrova has been involved with vitreous enamel for the past
six years. She has a unique way of manipulating industrial enamelling
techniques combining printing, spraying, hand painting and scratching
to produce these vibrant and textural pieces, some of which are 2
x 1 metres in size. The Keele project 'Reflection' comprises 10 pieces
and was completed in March 2005. The Romford scheme 'River Rom' was
opened to the public on 14th March 2005 and totals 26 panels. One
of her previous projects in enamel was a 14 panel installation at
Euston Tower in London entitled 'Transient Blue' . More of her work can be seen on her web site at www.varvarashavrova.com . The production of all of these panels was carried out in conjunction with IVE member, Burnham Signs Ltd. |
