THE SEMINAR

The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers is the only body in the U.K. which provides education on vitreous enamelling. This Seminar is designed for anyone with an interest in Vitreous Enamelling. These Annual Seminars are recognised as the training ground for the future of the enamelling industry. To maintain our reputation for doing something new - for the first time in many years, we are going to Scotland. The highlight of this will be a visit to the Pfaudler Balfour plant at Leven.

THE VENUE

This year we will be visiting the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland and will be based in North Queensferry with a visit to a plant unique within the UK, in the seaside town of Leven. Our hotel has all the facilities you would expect for your stay. For the golfers among you, Fife is famous for its golf courses and there are a number in the near vicinity and surrounding area. You might wish to arrive a couple of days early to take advantage of this.

The Hotel at which the seminar will be based is the Queensferry Hotel, set on the north banks of the Firth of Forth, enjoys spectacular panoramic views across the Firth and the iconic Forth Bridges. Ideally placed, the hotel is 9 miles equidistant from Edinburgh International Airport and Edinburgh City Centre.

For more information on the hotel: www.foliohotels.com/queensferry
The seminar will present our usual wide diversity of papers and our visit will be to Pfaudler Balfour Reactor Systems, a unit of Robbins & Myers UK Ltd., which is based in Leven.  The company is involved in the manufacture of Glass Lined pressure vessels and accessories for the Pharmaceutical and Chemical process industries.

The Pfaudler group has produced glass lined equipment since the 1880’s from, initially; glass lined beverage tanks to the latest containment systems for high integrity pharmaceutical products.

The size of some of the vessels produced is something that can only be comprehended by a visit and we are sure you will be both impressed and interested. So don’t miss it! We have said it before, but the advantages of going with other enamellers can never be underestimated - all of those other pairs of eyes!

THE SUBJECTS

We are presenting a selection of papers, with a wide range of subjects. There are papers on the practical side of enamelling, the implications of the rapidly approaching REACH regulations. We are also re- introducing the ever popular "Enamellers' Question Time" with a theme of Energy Savings and Environmental Impact as a natural follow on from the papers on REACH. Mixed in with this will be a range of fundamental and theoretical papers. We are expecting further papers and we will update the list, as they become availabl

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

If you are interested in enamels or enamelling, then you should be there! Of course don’t forget the opportunity of liaison offered during these seminars is one of the best ways to ensure the future of our very specialised industry.

As usual, our seminar offers some unique opportunities in a value for money package. It will cost you considerably less than any other comparable form of seminar. The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers runs these seminars for the benefit of its members, not to make a large profit. The registration fee includes all accommodation costs and meals.

The package will interest managers, technicians and practical personnel. As a supplier of raw materials or frits, you will have a chance to find out what your customers really want. As a customer, who actually does the enamelling, you will have a chance to see and discover the latest technology and practice. The technical papers have a range of subjects which will interest all enamellers. Delegates will be registering during the Sunday evening to minimise the loss of time of your critical personnel. This will limit the duration of the Seminar to two full weekdays.

The visit to the Pfaudler Balfour plant is a rare opportunity to see something a bit different in our industry and we are very grateful to them for opening their doors to us. So come and enjoy the visit with your colleagues and other with like-minded enamellers. The benefits of this are well proven over years of our seminars - better thirty pairs of eyes than just yours!
If you have been to one of our Seminars before, then you will know that we have planned ample time for formal and informal discussions. We are well aware of the importance of informal discussion time and we ensure that there is plenty of time available. These Annual Technical Seminars have become the highlight of the information package provided by The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers. So, if you want to update your knowledge and to be really involved with the continuing future of vitreous enamelling, then YOU need to be there.
